Strips are stored in vials (small plastic bottles), each containing its own specific code chip. The code chip is to be inserted into the CoaguChek meter and kept in place inside the meter until all the strips from the same vial are used.

Whenever possible, strips should remain in the vial with the cap closed in order to protect them from humidity and contamination. Remove strips from the vial one at a time, store at room temperature and out of direct sunlight.
